4 Books for Boosting Your Career

      January 22, 2015 By CENTURY 21

Is improving your profession one of your New Year’s resolutions? Pick up a book. You can learn so much from other people’s paths, experiences, and advice. There is a wealth of books that can provide the insights you need to make your career goals attainable.

Here are four books that can boost your career.

      1. Springboard: Launching Your Personal Search for Success by G. Richard Shell:

This book will help you discover what you want out of a profession, and how you can measure your success. Filled with exercises and inspirational stories from successful professionals, this is a book that will surely help you find out how to be successful – on your own terms.

      2. The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg:

This is another book linked to both professional and personal lives. Duhigg analyzes why people act the way they do, both in their careers and in everyday life. It’s hard to change a habit once it’s formed. The book examines the habits of successful people and shows you how positive habits can help you. Falling into a business routine can stunt your growth. This book helps you understand why you do what you do, and how you can help change it.

      3. Brag!: The Art of Tooting Your Own Horn Without Blowing It by Peggy Klaus:
Real estate is a business where you need to sell, not only houses, but also yourself. You have to show clients that you’re a leader in your field. Selling yourself is something that most people struggle with but this book helps you talk about your assets without sounding conceited.

      4. Reinventing You: Define Your Brand, Imagine Your Future by Dorie Clark:

Throughout the course of your profession, it’s important to keep things fresh and new. Reinventing yourself and changing things up is a necessary step in order to keep growing, despite what stage your professional life is in. Clark gives realistic advice on how to showcase your talents and skills, and how you can constantly reinvent yourself. She interviews successful business people, offering a broad spectrum of advice.

These books are filled with knowledge and advice that can guide you on the right path, no matter the stage of your profession.

Recommended Reading: 5 Coffee Table Books

      June 6, 2014 By CENTURY 21

There’s nothing like relaxing with a good book. Keep a stack of your favorite books on your coffee table. You can flip through them while watching TV and your guests can flip through them as you get dinner ready. Coffee table books are entertaining and, as an added plus, they look beautiful stacked on a coffee table.

      Here are our recommended reads:

      • A Life Less Ordinary by Alex Legendre - Get interior design inspiration from two longtime friends, Alex and Zoe. Their goal is to help you design a home that’s practical for your lifestyle. They delicately balance rustic textures with a modern flare.

      • Zen & The Art of Happiness by Chris Prentiss - Sometime you just need to take a break to enjoy the present moment. Chris Prentiss helps you do just that, by teaching you how to bring positivity and vibrancy back into our lives. Learn to balance daily stress from work and life with Prentiss’ tips for creating a more relaxing lifestyle.

      • Plenty: Vibrant Recipes from London’s Ottolgenhi by Yotam Ottolenghi: Plenty is filled with exotic vegetarian recipes that will delight vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The author, a renowned chef, was influenced by his Mediterranean upbringing and his love of good food!

      • Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World’s Greatest Trips: National Geographic does it again with an extensive book of the best places to travel. With adventures in almost every continent, this hardcover is great for planning vacations and filling up your bucket list. Similar to everything National Geographic does, the photography is stunning.

      • Domino: The Book of Decorating: A Room-by-Room Guide to Creating a Home That Makes You Happy: There is always room for exploration and improvement when it comes to decorating your home. This book will give you and your guests insight and advice for decorating a dream home. The book covers everything from how to stick to a budget to a detailed explanation of all of the different types of curtains.

There are so many excellent coffee table books to choose from – we had trouble narrowing down our list! We decided to go with a wide range of categories and topics but you can find a coffee table book for almost any interest and genre. Search Barnes and Noble, Amazon, or your local bookstore for books you’ll love!
