Century 21 North Homes Volunteers With Veterans

Two weeks ago, the team from Century 21 North Homes in Puget Sound, WA spent the day volunteering with the Veterans Memorial Clean Up Project. Started by Rich Sundance, a veteran and former Century 21 System member, the project focuses on giving much needed care to veterans’ memorials in the Puget Sound area.

Rich works for Veterans Affairs as a counselor and his office is inside the Century 21 North Homes office. When he began the project, the Century 21 team was eager to help.

Scott Heiner of Century 21 North Homes shared, “Rich is very passionate about this cause. Everyone in the office knows Rich and his commitment to the project. We all wanted to help him and these veterans. Our people jumped at the opportunity.”

On Saturday, June 21st, a dozen members of the Century 21 North Homes team headed to Annacortes, WA to help spruce up Causland Memorial Park, along with local disabled veterans. Causland Memorial Park is the largest veterans memorial in the county. It was created in 1920 and needed some extra TLC after nearly 100 years of weather exposure.

Rich has organized a few veterans memorial clean ups, this being the fourth.  For each project he researches the type of medal the memorial is made of so the volunteers can use the right cleaning solution to spruce, without causing any damage.

Rich explained, “There are monuments all over the country that have never seen any care. I’ll never stop doing this. I have three more on my radar right now. “

Over the weekend, 50 volunteers participated in the clean up at Kaufland Memorial Park.  The Century 21 North Homes team volunteers together several times per year, including activities in support of Easter Seals. The office is ranked #12 in the Century 21 System for donations to Easter Seals.

As franchisors, we know firsthand the challenge of finding professionals who have the skills and ambition necessary to thrive as a franchisee. From desire and intellect, to character and integrity, to being self-motivated for personal and brand-wide success, it is a challenging endeavor.

The good news is that there are hundreds of thousands of candidates waiting in the wings for the opportunity to run a business, who have the skills necessary to immediately jump right in, make a difference and contribute to enhancing your business’ bottom line. In the 12 years since American troops first deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, about 2.6 million veterans have returned home with the hope of seamlessly assimilating back into civilian culture. Military experts have told me that whether during times of war or peace, 200,000 servicemen and women will cycle in and out of the armed forces in any given year, year in and year out. This represents a tremendous opportunity for franchise companies to grow their organizations with worthy, honorable and goal-oriented professionals.

As legendary sports coach Lou Holtz told an audience of thousands during the CENTURY 21 Global Conference this year, “If you are not growing, then you are dying.” As Holtz noted, growing isn’t just a worthy goal; it is a necessity for survival and economic well-being. Join Rick Davidson on a Google Hangout, “Preparing Veterans & C21® Agents for the Perfect Partnership”

Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 11th, Rick Davidson, President and CEO of Century 21 Real Estate LLC will join Veterans Affairs, Veterans United and Easter Seals for a Google Hangout titled, “Preparing Veterans & C21® Agents for the Perfect Partnership.”

The Hangout, which begins at 2:00pm ET, will cover the steps CENTURY 21® is taking to help veterans achieve homeownership, why military members should use their VA home loan benefit and how real estate agents can better serve veterans and military families.

Jack Tilley, the 12th Sergeant Major of the Army, and Jim Herdt, ninth Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, will offer their knowledgeable advice on the unique situations veterans face during the homebuying process and what veterans should expect from working with military-friendly real estate agents.

Watch Live: Google Hangout With Century 21 CEO Rick Davidson And Department Of Veterans Affairs

Century 21 is joining Veterans United today for a Google+ Hangout to discuss veterans and homeownership. The conversation will focus on insights for returning veterans looking to purchase a house, the roadblocks they may face and the resources at their disposal, as well as answering questions from participants.

Rick Davidson, CEO and president of CENTURY 21, and Shirley Morrison, broker/owner of CENTURY 21 Sweyer and Associates, will participate in the Google+ Hangout to answer questions and provide advice to veterans about buying a home.  Davidson, recently elected as Chairman, International Board of Directors at Easter Seals, will also speak to the philanthropic organization’s resources that veterans can use to transition back into civilian life.

In addition to CENTURY 21 representatives Rick Davidson and Shirley Morrison, the following experts will participate in the Hangout:

•    Patsy Molloy Taylor – Assistant VP, Marketing and Corporate Relations at Easter Seals

•    John Bell – Assistant Director of the VA Home Loan Program for the Department of Veterans Affairs

According to a recent survey conducted by CENTURY 21 and Harris Interactive, 75 percent of military families cite owning a home as one of the most important things to service members upon returning from deployment.  Still, many veterans are in the dark about how to use their benefits and face other roadblocks in the path to homeownership.
